Scope and Contents

This collection contains materials generated and collected by Patricia Crandall relating to the Casadesus Musical Instrument Collection at Symphony Hall. Materials include photographs, instrument appraisals, correspondence, printed programs, BSO tour scripts, and books. Biographical / Historical

Patricia (Patty) Crandall was born in 1920 and lived in Lincoln, MA. She was highly involved in the Boston Symphony Association of Volunteers, mainly as a Symphony Hall tour guide, starting in the late 1970s and continuing through the early 2000s. She is listed as an official member of the Council of the Boston Symphony Orchestra starting in 1983. Along with her involvement with the BSAV, she also assisted with Boston Symphony Youth Concerts, oversaw the restoration of the portrait of Henry Lee Higginson in Symphony Hall, did research on Higginson as well as the statues in Symphony Hall, and was heavily involved with the preservation of the Casadesus Early Instrument Collection.
