Frances Breed was a violin student at the Tanglewood Music Center during its inaugural year, 1940. This small collection includes 11 photographs taken by Frances' brother, Henry Breed, during a visit to Tanglewood; 14 postcards and 4 letters and postcards written by Frances to her parents and her grandmother during the summer; and a pocket score of Beethoven's Violin Concerto Frances annotated during her lessons with BSO concertmaster Richard Burgin. The collection was donated to the BSO Archives by Frances' nephew, Henry Breed III, himself a pianist who was very close to his aunt.
