Scope and Contents
The Einar Hansen Collection contains materials pertaining to Einar Hansen’s career as a violinist. The material spans from 1897 to 1998 and is representative of Hansen’s career before, during, and after his time with the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1925 to 1965. The collection is grouped into ten series; administrative records, artwork, audio recordings, correspondence, memorabilia, newspaper clippings and journal articles, photos, programs and promotional pamphlets, publications, and sheet music. The collection highlights many important moments throughout Hansen’s musical career including a photograph from his performance at the Haydn Farewell Symphony at Carnegie Hall, a signed note of praise from Conductor, Serge Koussevitzky, and promotional pamphlets with cover painting by artist Susan Ricker Knox. Contents include items relating to his time as a student in Hamburg until his death in Phoenix, Arizona.
